It takes an artistic mind and an old soul to appreciate something as passé as filmic photographs. It takes an even more passionate heart to challenge this team to produce something classic from something contemporary. And how we love a good challenge! Especially one that pushes us outside our box.
Our bride may love classic photographs not only for its nostalgic quality and somber colors but for the process of bringing it to life. Developing old photographs is a whole lot like developing a relationship – it is a labor of love.
The process has four parts: Developing, Stopping Development, Fixing, and Washing and Drying. Love may be a chemical reaction that needs to be developed. However, there may also be overwhelming emotions that can damage it thus; there are moments when we stop these developments. Just like in photo development when overdeveloping can destroy the integrity of the photos and produce a grainy result. There are aspects that need fixing, especially when we need to change undesirable parts of ourselves for the one we love. Then we wash to prevent stains from destroying a beautiful picture. Lastly is to let it dry. Like love, we patiently wait for the full picture to appear right before our eyes. This process, the unfolding of their story - all stages requiring time, dedication and of course, a loving anticipation.
